In the Guru Granth Sahib, it says that God takes four different forms, namely: Niraakar (formless), Saakar (with form - i.e. Satguru), Nimrata (humility) and Pyar (love). Saints if we look at this topic in another perspective, then in actuality the hallmark and the legacy of a Satguru (True Master) are both one and the same. Simply put, it is Love. We hear that God is Love and Love is God. Being Love personified, a True Master lives His life as the perfect example for humanity; in other words He leads by example, and this is His hallmark. Similarly, a True Master leaves behind a legacy of love, tolerance and compassion inspiring all of mankind to follow and put into their lives as well.
Today, everywhere we turn it seems as if only violence, hatred and anger are prevailing. That is why our Master Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj is stressing more than ever that we should spread the message of love to each and every corner of the world. On His latest tour in India, Baba Ji said, "There is nothing exceptional about loving one that loves you. True significance lies in loving one that hates you. Everyone returns hate for hate, but saints go one step further and return love for the hate received." Saints, this message is not a new one, but on the contrary has been stressed for all time by all great sages and saints of the world. Lord Jesus Christ told his disciples, "Moses had given you ten commandments, but I give you yet another one and that is to love each other as I have loved you." Saints we see with our own eyes today that the legacy of love left behind by Satguru Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and other great saints that sacrificed their lives for humanity and for the Mission takes form every year through the Manav Ekta Samagam. This legacy of human unity and love will never die off. Like most reverend Chadha Ji said in Montreal, "Darkness cannot even exist in the least when put next to light." Similarly, hatred and anger stand no chance in front of the message of love and compassion given to us by our Satguru today. What the need of the hour is to spread this message across the world and not only keep it hidden to ourselves. Once Baba ji said, " When a house has a black out, what good is a candle if it is kept hidden in a closet?"
How strong is the power of love? Many years ago His Holiness Baba Ji went to the state of Gujurat, where a saint had the opportunity to speak with Baba Ji. The saint was telling Baba Ji that it is hard to spread the message of Truth to all areas of his city due to people speaking many different languages. But Baba Ji responded by saying, "The message of Truth is not conveyed by language or any other physical means, rather it is through love and dedication that this can be accomplished. We have the example of Rishi Vyas Dev Ji who was able to deliver the message of truth to thousands of different saints who did not speak Hindi or Punjabi; this was done by his love and dedication to spread the message."
Saints if we look at it, then we see that all that a Satguru really stands for is love. By following our True Master's teachings, then we can also become love personified beings. This is actually the real goal of life. Loving the Creator alone is not enough, what is needed is to have love for the creation as well. Saints, if a person wishes to have a friendship with a certain parent, then this can never happen if that person hates the children. That is why all great saints have stressed on loving the creation as well as the creator. Also Guru Gobind Singh Ji has said, "Sach Kahun Sun Leyho Sabhe, Jin Prem Kiyo Tin Hi Prab Payo" (Truly I say to you, may all listen, that only those that have loved have reached God). So saints, I humbly ask for your blessings so that I may keep this legacy of love alive inside of me as well and that I may help spread it everywhere, so that Baba Ji's dream of a loving and united human family can be accomplished in the near future.

Saints, you have heard many of the young saints today speak on the topic that has been assigned to them: "The True Master's hallmark and his legacy." Saints, as we are honoring Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji today, we can take his example but I myself was very young when the world lost this True Master, and so all that I know about him is through a secondhand knowledge by listening to saints and to all those who knew him well.
However, to determine his hallmark, or his principal characteristic, we don't have to look very far or have personally met him, we can see it today in the True Master of the time, most Rev. Baba Hardev Singh Ji. Many people along the way have been given the title of master, which indicates not only a learned person but also a teacher. However, the mark of a True Master is that He and only He is able to guide us and show the true light, the true face of formless God and show us our own place on this earth.
As children, we want to learn many things and ask many questions.why is the sky blue, why is the world round, how big is the universe, why is 2+2 4 not 5, ...as we grow older, our questions become more complicated, we need more proof of the answers validity, we ask existential questions..Who am I? Where is God? Who is God? Why am I born?
Just as answering a child's questions is necessary to his development, so is answering an adult's. However, not everyone can answer such questions truthfully and with valid answers.only a True Master can do so. Many proclaim that they can by reading the scriptures and words of other True Masters. However, we have seen evidence all around us of people who misinterpret the beautiful teachings and use them to justify their actions. We also realize that one cannot learn the true meaning of life through reading alone. Even university and graduate level students require a teacher and not just the books to learn. So do we.But how do we know who is the True Master? Baba Gurbachan Singh ji himself said, and saints this is an interpretation of his thoughts in the book Meri Awaz and so if I say something incorrectly please forgive me. He gives the example of a farmer and says that just as a good farmer must know the quality of his land in order to reap any benefits, so should man know the mark of a true saint or a True Master. One of the qualities is that he can make you realize the lord-Almighty. You can know him through the revelation or message that he gives you.
Saints as for what Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji's or this mission's message has been, it is very similar to that of all others that precede him. The message of truth that we hear today is no different than that of Lord Christ, Baba Nanak Ji, and Prophet Mohammed. In the words of another saint, since civilized human beings have been walking the earth, so has the prophet. And each one's message has been one of human unity and love and the path to the one God.
Jesus Christ said, "Love this one God, and love one another."
In the Koran, it's written : We believe in what has been revealed to us and revealed to you. Our and your God is one and to Him we are self surrendered."
Lord Krishna said, "My face is equal to all creation."
Saints as for their legacies, each time a prophet walked the earth, it was to spread this message. Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji's hard work to bring this message to millions of people can be seen today in this room. He was the first to travel abroad and reach those souls that themselves could not be close to him. He traveled far and wide within India as well. He even took the help of the media and spoke to them with respect about his message, thus using new technology to bring light to many. He began many missionary activities and social welfare activities - schools and dispensaries. He instituted prohibition, dowry-free simple marriages and finally, saints, he left behind a legacy of peace.
Just following his sacrifice, Baba Hardev Singh Ji put considerable stress on the issue of peace and tolerance and is leading the mission onto the same path of unity as all the true masters before him.
Finally saints, addressing the congregation in Montreal Rev. Rajmata Ji once said, "Just as an object molded in a cast always looks beautiful, a life molded according to the teachings of the True Master is also noble and righteous. The students, by their truthfulness and good behaviour, automatically bring good name to the teacher." Saints, I pray to you to please bless me to be deserving of this precious gift of Truth that has been so easily given to me.

Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji had a vision. This was a vision of human unity and equality amongst all men, women and children. During His life, Babaji often gave examples of books on medicine. He would say that books on medicine can be written in many different languages from around the world, and yet they all have the same solution and recipe. In the same context, all the holy books and scriptures say the same things, but in a different way. Furthermore, all religions are equal and all humans are equal, we are all living within the same God.
As for Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji's hallmark during his life, just as all other prophets, was that he practiced what he preached. What touched me the most because I am a woman, was how he gave respect to women and brought up their status. He did this by taking Raj Mata Ji along with him during his first world tour, so they could together preach and spread the message of Universal Brotherhood. Also, in a conference in Missouri He told us to eliminate the dowry system and have simple marriages.
I'd like to share a poem on humanity with you:
Inspirational & Motivational
by Mother Theresa
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight.
Build anyway.
The good you do today, people will forget tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough.
Give the best anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.
Saints, I think this is a beautiful poem. It is up to us to fulfill Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji's vision. Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj said: "It is the sacred duty of a saint to make mankind happy." For me, Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji's legacy is his vision, because he promoted it and lived up to it. It`s our duty to pay it back. I will leave you with one last quote: "Ask not what God can do for you but what you can do for God."

Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji was one of those great spiritual Masters who lived and died for the noble cause of human unity through spiritual awakening. He was hurt to find people fighting and suffering because of hatred generated by blind faith, ignorance and superstitions. Baba Avtar Singh Ji declared Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji as Baba Ji on Dec. 3, 1962. Baba Ji devoted his entire life in preaching and spreading the God Knowledge not just in India but all over the world. Baba Hardev Singh Ji continues the same legacy today.
I must say those lines:
"SATGURU JAB JAB BHI AATA HAI,
YEH DUNIYA KO SAMJHATA HAI,
HUM SAB AIK PITA KAY BACAY,
HAMARA IS PRABU SAY NATA HAI."
(Whenever the True Master comes into the world,
He makes the entire world understand,
We are all the children of the one Father,
We are related to this God.)
Saints, the True Master never dies because He is not the body, but He is the Divine Knowledge. So, we must remember Nirankar (formless-God) always.

When I heard about this topic, I was in deep thought because like many of the youth who spoke before me, I don't remember anything about Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji. I was only a baby, so whatever I know about Him is from books and from the experiences of others.
Saints, the question of legacy comes in, and once again a lot of those rules were initiated by Baba Ji at that time, such as the social reforms of simple marriages. Where a lot of times in Indian culture, people go broke. In addition, prohibition of intoxicants such as drugs, alcohol, etc. Then the message of what everyone else talked about, of love and humanity, treating everyone equally regardless of caste, creed and color. A journalist once asked Baba Ji, "What is your Mission doing for this world?" Baba Ji humbly replied, "I'm giving the world a good human being." Saints, what does that mean, a good human being? We've heard so many qualities of love, compassion and tolerance. I was thinking of myself when I go to work on Tuesday morning. Just like that stream of water one saint's daughter was reaching over at, are these some type of things we like to keep for show or is this a reality for us? Is this something that is actually within us, or is it something we dangle so that others will say to us that these people are good, because they believe in goodness.
The question here for all of us, we've traveled so many miles to come here in hope that we get something. The thing is, is what we believe the bottom line? If you look at the legacy of all the spiritual Masters, you will see that what it means to be a good human being is something we are not right now. I was listening to a discourse by Baba Hardev Singh Ji the other day where He said that every being in the animal kingdom on earth eats, sleeps, procreates and fears things. He said that we are so engaged with these things, where is the time for liberation? In the night we sleep, during the day we eat, where is the time for spirituality? Saints, our Master doesn't speak that much, but when He does, isn't it worth it to us to listen? He's saying something very important to us that our priority is not God. Because the reality is that God for us is a means to our own end. We are happy with God when I get something done, my way, or when I get something. But the reality is, when I don't get what I want, then I fear God, and don't have a good relationship with Him. But spirituality, a good human being is someone who takes us beyond this.
A saint is a king, someone who doesn't desire anything, who accepts things as they are. Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and all the other saints and prophets taught me, that when I get up in the morning and I see someone needs help, I extend my hand. When I see someone who is sad, I can smile and make him or her happy. Because saints, these are jewels that don't just hang on a wall, this is our life. Because maybe someday, someone might say, "That guy is nice, what does he believe in, what does he do?" This is the way to attract people to the Mission. No matter how much we preach, if we don't do as Baba Ji wants, then the preaching will not be very effective.
Saints, Dhan Nirankar.
